Sea Search

The People and Parks Foundation was thankful to receive support from Exxon/Mobil in 2010/11 to develop environmental education materials for Parks Victoria’s Sea Search program. Sea Search is a community based scientific monitoring program enabling the community to get involved in active conservation and management of their local marine protected area.

Sea Search is effectively a “citizen science” project encouraging Friends and community groups to monitor the marine plants and animals in their local Marine National Parks and Marine Sanctuaries.

Volunteers can explore and learn about the diversity of marine plants and animals found in Victoria’s Marine Protected Areas while adding to the scientific knowledge of the parks.

While the Foundation is no longer directly involved with Sea Search, the program is still being run by Parks Victoria. If you’re interested in learning more about Parks Victoria’s many environmental volunteering opportunities, you can find out more by registering with ParkConnect here:
