The Prom Sanctuary is becoming a reality through a strong partnership between the People and Parks Foundation and Parks Victoria. Together, we are working to transform Wilsons Promontory National Park into Victoria’s largest conservation sanctuary – a cool-climate refuge where Australian nature can survive, adapt and thrive. There’s no other place like it.
Thanks to the generosity of public and philanthropic supporters, over $400,000 has already been raised -unlocking matched funding through the Victorian Government’s Nature Fund grants program. In total, more than $800,000 has been secured to deliver major restoration projects across the Prom’s grasslands, heathlands, and offshore islands, supported by a dedicated project officer.
We have already celebrated exciting early wins: invasive pest species like deer and foxes are being removed, native vegetation is regenerating, and threatened wildlife is being given a second chance. These achievements were made possible by people like you – and this is just the beginning.

The People and Parks Foundation has proven track record working in partnership with Parks Victoria to enable transformative environmental projects, raising millions of dollars for our environment over the past 20 years. Most recently, this includes successful partnership projects such as Ponnon Pulgi (Resting Places) in north west Victoria, and the World Urban Parks award-winning Chelsea Australian Garden at Olinda.
